Kidspiration
In Kidspiration there are different templates for math and science that enable students to use visual math tools to help not only with problem solving but developing different skills, like identifying different shapes. Science templates allow students to sort pictures and patterns that are similar and different. Linked to the word Kidspiration above is a link to the website to show how to use the program. They can use the program to play around with shapes and get better acquainted with them as well as be able to make comparisons about them.
Printable Shape Worksheets
Objective:

The printable sheets website contains many different sheets, one is called Shape Bingo. Everyone will receive one of these printable sheets and they will participate in a game of bingo. The teacher will begin by saying the name of a shape, and if the student identifies that shape on their sheet, they will cover it. The game will continue until someone has BINGO on their sheet (5 across, diagonal etc.)
Below is a screenshot of the printable Shape Bingo sheet we will use:

After the game of Bingo, all the students will be given another printable shape worksheet that may look like one of the ones below, from the following website: http://www.tlsbooks.com/
The sheets are to be completed for homework and assessed to evaluate the understanding of recognizing, and drawing shapes.

YouTube Video
This video demonstrates the basic shapes that children see every day during any activity. The video is about one minute but is a simple explaination of how shapes fit into the world today. You Tube has many different types of vidoes that demonstrate and explain how shapes are viewed every day. This example of learning provides students with a fun way to interact in the classroom. It helps to keep students focus by showing fun visuals and singing a song about the shapes to help them remember them better. This technique for learning is good for visual learners who are unable to focus while reading textbooks.
